RAYC 2017 Course Programme

Army Offshore Sailing Centre (AOSC) 2017 Course Programe

The 2017 Course Programme for the Army Offshore Sailing Centre at Fort Blockhouse, Gosport is at: http://www.sailarmy.co.uk/offshore/courses.html.

RAYC, Hornet, RNSA and RAFSA members are welcome to attend any of the courses run by the ASA through the AOSC but will need to become members of the ASA. The cost of membership is £10 for the year and can be arranged through Capt (Retd)Phil Brown, ASA Chief Instructor Offshore. If you wish to book a place please contact Phil Brown on:

The RYA Competent Crew (CC) and Day Skipper(DS) courses run from 1200 Sun - 1200 the following Fri. The minimum age for candidates is 18 years old. The cost is £260 which covers all victualling and berthing. Wet Weather gear is also provided if required. The cost of the First Aid Course is £40, which includes the Certificate and a copy of the latest First Aid Manual.

RAYC Courses 2017

The RC(O) announced that he would be reviewing re-establishing a programme of 30/30/30 training in that the benefits outweighed the costs involved. In the meantime he had instigated a 5 year training plan (2016-2021) which would each year embrace the following;
" 2 x Day Skipper Courses (one to be open to families)
" 1 x YM Course
" 2 x C* Courses

RYA VHF Assessment TBC AOSC at Gosport  
NOTE: In order to attend the VHF Assessment, candidates must have completed the on-line VHF course first. The cost of this course is £40 payable to the ASA. This course can be accessed after contacting Mark Langhorne by email on sailarmy@btconnect.com or by mobile on 07769 911 888.

The cost of the Assessment, is £60 payable to the RYA and includes your Certification, should you be successful. Candidates will also need to provide a Passport size photograph and a separate means of photo-ID.

Sea Survival and ISAF TBC ASCB  
NOTE: The RYA Sea Survival is conducted in Aldershot at the ASCB, and in the Garrison Pool for the wet drills. The minimum age for candidates is 18 years old. The ISAF course is conducted on the second day at the Army Offshore Sailing Centre, Gosport. Candidates must hold a valid RYA Sea Survival Certificate which is less than 5 years old. The minimum age for candidates is 18 years old. The cost is £70 for both courses or £40 for the Sea Survival Course and £35 for the ISAF course.
